alright finally a short person with me, 5'5" ... dont laugh 115 lbs, lowered with progressive, and a bare bones seat. knees are bent at stops and hills, (28 inch inseam) plus i wear steel toe boots which gives me a couple inches, The only thing is, is that the bb sets me back and its a reach for the bars. wanting to go to 14's plus a loner riser to bring it back, and the mids are cramping and the forwards cant reach, needs to be in the middle some where ( have some ideas but havent manufactured it yet). The weight and the balance of the bike is just awsome I throw it around like my ol 200 dirty, you will lose some ride with the shocks but i felt being flat footed on stops was better,ok i just measured the seat height wow 23 1/2 inches to the bottom of seat so there ya go awsome ride, awsome built bike.
I'm 5'5" with about a 28.5" inseam. I went with the Wyatt Floorboard kit. It was right in between the distance of mids and fwds, and was easy to install.
I tried the mids with the adjustable highway pegs, but couldn't reach them comfortably. The Wyatt kit was prefect. Pics of mine are in my profile.
I currently ride a Honda Rebel 250 which I absolutely love. I have only been a motorcycle passenger since Feb 2010 and a solo rider since Sept 2010 and this is a perfect beginners bike. I am thinking of upgrading to something that can keep up with my hubby on his Road King. I am also very vertically challenged so my choices become limited. I am 5' 1 3/4" and a petite framed woman. My Honda has a 26" seat from the ground. I sat on the new HD Blackline and I LOVE how it feels when I am just sitting there. I can have my feet flat on the ground, but.... it has forward controls. I just don't think they would be a wise choice for my next step. Maybe a few years and a few bikes down the road. I also sat on a Street Bob. I like the look of it, but my feet can't touch flat, just my toes. I don't understand this since it is suppose to have a 25" seat from the ground. It did feel extremely wide though, like I was riding a Clydesdale. I like the mid controls. Can this seat issue be fixed? Do they make seats that are narrower and make you feel like you are lower to the ground? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I'd ask the dealer if it were possible to put the half-moon floorboards from the Heritage (or FBLow) on the Blackline to avoid the stretch to the forward controls. I bet it's possible since they have kits to go the other direction. Stay away from the Street Bob or any Dyna. The wide side covers push your legs out further than the Blackline with it's sculpted frame and horseshoe oil tank. This is from experience as I'm 5'6" and own both an '06 Street Bob and '10 Heritage Softail. Not dissing the 'Bob - just stating a fact. The only other Harley's that feel as low are the Nightster and Superlow. But if you want a big twin the narrow tire Softails (Blackline, Deluxe, etc) will be easiest to reach the ground. Be sure to look into heat shields tho as the narrow seat front can allow more heat to come up from the back cylinder.
BTW - the 250 Rebel is an awesome starter bike. I taught my sister how to ride with that bike and she loved taking it around town. It's definitely not much for the highway tho.
1'm 5'10" with freakishly short legs and my Bob fits me fantastically well. I can't recommend it enough but make sure you dry it off if it get damp, the chrome doesn't like it!
I'm 5"9" with short arms and legs. The Bob fits me like a glove. I tried a lot of different Harley's before buying mine. For some reason the Bob feels smaller than the rest when you are sitting on it.
BTW...I rode sport bikes for about 20 years before buying my Street Bob. You won't slow down on it.
Maybe I missed it, but did you get the street bob? I am on the opposite side. I am six three and I love the mid controls. I installed the highway pegs but they barely get used. Keep us posted. And welcome in advance.

a narrower seat (corbin Hollywood, Dennis Kirk Predator, Lepera Barebones)

You should not have any issues with a street bob. I am a 5' 1" tall and I ride my street bob like no other. I love it. I do not have a low model and have not changed my shocks. All I did was put a super reach solo seat on it because of my lower frame. You are taller then me so I doubt you'd have to do that.
