Default 6 Speed trans

Any thoughts on this? I have a 1997 Dyna wide glide. Worth the cash?

My brother had a 98 FXDC he put a Baker DD5 on and he loved it. Thought it was a major improvement on the highway. That said it was several grand and this was probably like 10 years ago and bike was not available with 6 speed. You might be better off looking for a newer bike and trading up.

I'm not familiar with the differences in gear ratios, but I love my six-speed when I recall the old 4-speeds I used to ride.

Costs would prevent me from upgrading an older bike, though.

The 6 speed is a whole nother world and I love it. When I ride 5 speed bikes now it feels like I'm making way too many RPMs at hwy speed. For $2200 though, I'd develop a love for those higher RPMs..

Default Baker 6 speed

I installed a Baker 6 speed on my 2005 FXDX. I love it. Run down the highway 75 t0 80 at 2500 RPM.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. This will probably be my only Harley for a while. Future upgrade I think. You always love your first.

I had an '01 Sporty with 5 speeds and now I have an '09 FXD with the 6 speed. Night and day difference. Now the sporty was a 1200 with stage 1 so power wise it wasn't a complete dog. But that 6th gear is definitely worth it. I will say that $2200 makes a nice deposit on a used 08 or 09. Just a thought, don't need to buy new.

Don't see the point really. I've got my 5 speed and cruise 75-80 all day no problems. Last trip I made my "big" wide glide harley got better MPG's than my buddy's little honda 750 too.
