I can't believe "kirks an idiot" is winning in your poll. I get your reasoning. Full helmets are hot and stifling, DOT half helmets look a little ridiculous for the most part, the retro 3/4 helmet is making a comeback... I'm sure there are some halfs that don't look like Mr. Magoo, but I can't seem to find them.
My half helmet looks like it sits a mile above my head and looks terrible... looks aren't everything, but why am I wearing a helmet that offers NO protection to my face/jaw if it STILL looks stupid? Wind pulls it all over the place, it starts to slide back on my head unless I'm wearing something under it.
I'm definitely looking at 3/4 helmets. They may still be a bit bulbous, but at least they protect more and don't go from giant to nothing right above the ear.
Surprised to see this thread pop back up. Thought I'd chime in and update everyone...I went with neither. I ended up getting an Icon Alliance Black Rubatone.
Edit: It doesn't have any of those tacky things attached to it. It's just a good fitting flat black helmet with a nice visor.
