Just out of curiosity, did you consider a Low Rider?

I disagree, I would not put forward controls on the Bob. It is perfectly balanced with your legs at a 90 degree angle. The mid controls give you maximum control of the bike. If you need to stretch, use highway pegs, then that gives you the best of both worlds.

I'm 5'10" and have a Wide Glide , I've ridden a few Bobs but would put forward controls on them if I was going to do anything more than barhopping. I had mid controls on my FXDX. Ergonomically I'd say the WG is a better bet for somebody your size, but if you like the Bob just put on the forward controls and be happy

Being shorter must be nice sometimes.
I had to put pegs on my forks to stretch out on the highway..

Put your feet down while going 80 a time or two. I'll bet you can shorten up those long legs a bit.

By the way, 5' 11" is not short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Average height for a man in the USA is still only 5' 8" (believe it or not)

Buy the Wide Glide bro.........
I must have sat on every bike in the dealership over the corse of trying to decide what to buy.I have an 84 FXRS already and always hated the mid mount controls, but never changed them.I almost bought the Night train BUT It looked like a monkey riding a football with my height. My knees were way over the tank, and it felt cramped as all hell.
Now Im not sure what the price differences are in Canada but I bought my Wide Glide for $18500 out the door and that was in mid-April.I dont think you can outfit the Street Bob with the stuff that comes stock on a Wide Glide for the same difference in price.
I know youve heard of the real meaning of H-D
Most people think it stands for Harley Davidson.
It dosent...........
It stands for Hundred Dollars.
Thats what it costs you every time you stop by the dealer for an accessory.

As discussed in this thread the controls, pegs, bars, etc can be changed on either bike to suit your specific need. The issue is more of a riding style and feel due to the different wheel base lengths and rake of the front end. The Bob is quicker and more responsive to steering input. The WG is great for sitting in and cruising. It handles very well but is slower to respond to rider input. Iam very happy with my WG.

New to the Forum. Spent the afterrnoon trying to decide whether or not a BL Denim Bob was right for me. I am 6' 220 and liked the bar position, but thought the seat was lower than I'd like in relationship to the controls. I see there is a lot of info about lowering the Bob and other Dynas, but what about raising a lowered model? If a longer shock was installed on the bob, seat height and passsenger height in relation to the pegs increases. I also bet there are lots of barelye used original Dyna shocks available after bikes have been lowered.

Also, would a sundowner 2up saddle increase seat height over stock as well.

Ftr, I would just add the forward pegs as I like the controls below.

Well I am 6'3" and 250 and my Street Bob fits me fine. I still have the mid controls as well. Although I think forwards might be in my future..

Default Wide glide stock fwd controls vs strert bob with extended fwd controll fit my tall *** the same.. im 6'5" inseam of 36"

Occasionally we will switch bikes just change it up a bit...I like them both, here is just my opinion....I have about $16.2 in my bob and he has about 22.0 in his wide glide.

Wide Glide- The ride is much better, however it is a different feeling ride. It feels like you sit on the wide glide and you sit in the street bob. Obviously this is due to the seat height. The wide glide ride is smoother and you don't feel the bumps as well as you do on the bob. The wide glide doesn't seem to hand or corner as well as the bob, this is probably due to the difference in the rake and the lowered stance. The wide glide is better for two up riding, the longer wheel base makes it feel like you have a bit more room. The chrome is definitely night and day. Almost non existent on a bob.

The bob- Rides a bit more stiff and lower than the wide glide. You definitely feel the road more. It corners better than the wide glide and is much more nimble in handling. I feel more in control on the street bob...

Bottom line, I wanted a wide glide, but I couldn't justify the extra cost versus the street bob.. The street bob is a blank slate compared to the wide glide. If you add the accessories you want you could end up in the 16-18k range on the street bob or 20+ in the wide glide range. Of course that is just my opinion I love the "bob" and I am very happy with my choice. If I could afford it, I would have a wide glide too....I like them both.
Hope this helps,
jdog

Im 6'5" i love the feel of the wide glide with my legs extended out... but not into the raked out n skinny front tire on the wide glide... tho i love the looks of the street bob... if i put fwd controls on the street bob will i have the same stretched out leg feeling.. again im 6'5" inseam of 36"

Yes, I’m 6’2 and put forwards on my bob and it gave me a lot more room but I have a LePera daddy long legs seat also. Depending on your seat you might need to get the "further forward" forward controls that are longer since your inseam is 5 inches more than mine.
