My brother and I both have the Rifle. It is nice that there are different sizes and shades of shields to use.

He is running the bubble shield, but also has the 15" clear in case he wants to change it for a long trip.

I have the 15" tinted shield. It actually does work very well in deflecting the wind...just like a regular shield. I have changed back to my detachable Harley windshield, but only because it has a more old school look IMO.

You have to buy the correct mounting kit for your bike..it was $45 for the 2006+ Dynas. Mounts to upper pinch bolts and a bracket comes off the headlight bolt. It uses "struts" that are adjustable...pretty good adjustability with them.

I have same bike 2011 Street Bob in Vivid Black. Thinking about doing same upgrade. When you turn handle bars full lock does the fairing touch anything or is it fit perfectly for your 2011 fxdb?

It doesn not hit the tank...the mounting hardware is specific to the bike and there is adjustment in the strut mounts too. It is simple but sturdy and works well.

I am not running the Rifle as I do like the looks of the HD windshield on my bike better...but I think it looks absolutely great on my brother's.

I would sale if anyone is interested, but I broke the long shiled in the pics when I was trying to reposition it. The shield was used and had a crack and when I pushed too hard it cracked the whole way across.

The only reason I was forcing it was because I switched back to my custom headlight because I like it better and the shield wasn't lining up right. Works perfectly with stock headlight which is what I had in the pics.

Sorry! I thought the question was for me!

That looks good! I've seen a bunch of these, and I always like them. Knowing that one can install a taller windshield on it is a plus. Makes me want to get one, but I'm unclear on whether it will be a simple bolt-on for a Wide Glide. The one that I found with a bit of a description says that it will require custom brackets to install on a Wide Glide. That's on ebay, so it may be BS. The Arlen Ness website doesn't say much. Lists 06-087 for the Wide Glide, but doesn't say what years.

I have to agree that the fairing with the low windshield looks great. I am not a fan of these but im really starting to like the way they look. May have to get one in the future . thanks to the original OP for posting pics of the ness set up and for the pics of the rifle set up as well. Cool to have choices.

I may have confused you on this..the Rifle has optional shields for it. You can get a bubble(short), a 15" and an 18" in clear or tinted.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but a POI if you don't mind.

[QUOTE=Mascman;8364934]My brother and I both have the Rifle. It is nice that there are different sizes and shades of shields to use.

Mascman, those struts come in different lengths. I got the WG and they were way short. Then Dennis at Rifle sent me the longer struts. At that point I realized they were stainless and brass and I polished the heck out of 'em. Big, Big, difference. I also polished the upper Pinch Bolts as well. I notice on yours and your brothers that you did not use the headlight extender brackets. These are 2 flat brackets with 3/8" holes in each end. The other brackets for the top of the fairing have 5/16" in holes. Here I went to the HD dealer and got some chrome 5/16" bolts.

Back to the headlight extender brackets, one goes on top of the bottom triple and the other goes on the bottom of the triple. Between the two are the 3/4" aluminum spacers with 3/8" holes.

Here I'm fabricating a bracket to replace this setup and extend my headlight out another 1/2".

Done with the hijacking, BTW, good job on your fairing install.

I'll post my Rifle install in a couple days, hopefully I'll have my headlight bracket & toolbag bracket fabricated by then.
