ok guys, i ordered my slip on Cycle Shack's today from the local parts shop...maybe paid a little more than eBay but he has super fast shipping and is a super nice guy to deal with.

i mainly originally just ordered them to get some sound out of my bike. out of the guys i ride with, i'm the only one with stock exhaust and well it sucks. so that was my reasoning...just a little more sound. but i've been thinking...why not go ahead and get an air filter upgrade and then the remap thoughts came into my head. i've did some searching on the internet and its about as clear to mud to me...so i thought i'd ask you guys...

is Remapping my EFI something i need to do myself or is it something i should take to a harley shop? this is my first EFI, i've rejetted carbs on dirtbikes and the like in the past but never messed with this EFI stuff...

 

You don't need to remap for slip ons. If you do the air cleaner and full exhaust - then you would be wise to remap.
Also - you can do it yourself with the Dynojet Power Vision. I just got one a month ago and love it. There are several threads here on Power Vision so you can read up all about it.

 

I just recently put cycle shack slip-ons on my 2011 superglide and am very happy with the sound of these slipons.I don't plan on doing the AC right now,but you will need the HD download,that should be enough,unless you want to get into the PC,fuelpacks,etc,but the download is all that you will need,right now with just slipons,your fine,the ECM will compensate.

thats what i was figuring. so when i do the air cleaner (like a K&N or the screaming eagle) i can take it to the harley shop and get them to do the HD download? whats something like that cost?

 

I was quoted $450 for the SE Tuner and $300 for the actual tuning from the dealer. Hence my decision to go with Power Vision. Here's another thing to consider, if you change something - you need to go back and spend money on another tuning. And if you want to sell the bike and put it back to stock - you might have to go back again and have them reflash the ECM back to stock.

 

hmmm...maybe this requires a little more thought. i'll probably just stick to the slip on's for now, not sure its worth $750

 

I got my screaming eagle heavy breather mildly used off of ebay for $200 shipped. Then for the tuner to save some bucks you can find a used power commander for around $150-$225.

DON'T GET THE HD TUNER OR DOWNLOAD! Its expensive as hell and not user friendly like the others out there.

Do some searching on the forums and ebay and you'll find great deals.

 

If you do the slipons and ac you will need some sore of fuel richener. If you go to the dealer and get the stage 1 download its only 150 bucks. But for another 150 you can buy a Power Commander and tweek it your self. Real user friendly.

 

 

I have the PC-V and auto tune, though I've yet to install the AT.

However, after reading up on a lot of options, I think the XIED's are pretty cool, and the price is right.

The high-dollar, adjustable ones, with A/F ratio meters, go for well under $200. Something to consider.
