I finally got tired of my "baby" apes so I went legit. 15 inchers with 3 inch risers for 18 total. I haven't picked their exact mounting angle since I have to ride them and make some final adjustments, but I am pretty impressed so far.
Finally found the bars i'm going with. Utaptout don't be pissed when there's a denim black FB posted up with the same bars. Did you use the stock cables? How tall are you? I'm 6'4-6'5 and i'm wondering if i should go with the 18's. The LEO's would probaby have a hay day with the 18's though...
Won't bother me in the slightest. It's not like they're one-off lol. Actually, Animalnoll was the forum member that referred these bars to me. He has the powdercoated black set on his blacked out Fat Bob, which is one of the sweetest looking Fat Bob's on this forum IMO. You should check out his pics.
I'm about 5'11" on a good day and these sit right at shoulder height, so my arms are parallel to the ground. They might be a little small for you.
As far as cables, I had to change them all. I went with +7 inchers from Magnum Shielding. They are a bit too long though as you can see from the pics. I probably should have gone with +4 or 5. I also had to extend my wiring. The whole job is not real dfficult if you've got some aptitude, but it takes a while. I spent about 10 hours in all. It can be done way faster by someone with more experience, but I took my time and I'm also easily distracted. Make sure you get a service manual, and also there's a ton of threads on here with how-to's on the install.
Wow, oldman that bike is gorgeous! Great job customizing her. Makes me think I should swap front ends again....lol
If I had my way & money I would've still put a springer on the front, the springer says it all, makes your scoot look old school, love the work you've put into it Well sell your springer to me than.
