I am assuming this question came from all the conversions we see done to Softails. Its very common to see Softails converted to Dyna style swing arms with exposed vertical shocks. Its NOT easy to go the other way with Dyna's. Am I close here?
Dyna swing arms bolt to the rubber motor mount. Softy's are solid mounted motors with swing arms bolted to the frame. I don't see it being possible from an engineering standpoint.
Thank you, I didnt actually know that it wasn't possible with the current frame. To everyone else, I was just asking if it was possible. Why do you all hate softails so much? How can Harley lovers hate Harleys? I can understand if i was talking about Yamahas or BMWs, but forgive me for talking about Harley Davidsons on a Harley Davidson forum. I saw a guy with a Street Bob with a springer seat on another thread, lets all go pick on him because "why would you want to do that?". Maybe its his bike and thats what he likes. Whats wrong with modifying your bike to make it look however you like? Anyway, in closing, I was just asking a simple question because I didnt know if it was possible
3 Points...
It's not about hating Softails, it is about illustrating how silly your question was. Had you put a little thought into it before asking, I am sure you would have come to the same conclusion. It would be much more practical to make a Softail look like a Fat Bob.
Besides this is a Dyna section of the forum, did you really expect that you would not be chided for asking this question?
Since you are new to the forum, it was probably an educated guess that you were just trying to stir the pot and start a "fight", it has happened more than once.
you can understand hating on a yamaha or a bmw, but not another model of harley? man, you just buy anything the moco sells you, huh? screamin eagle golf ball washers and all.
a lot of companies make really good bikes; yamaha, honda, bmw, triumph.... arguably better bikes than HD in fact. either way, no reason to hate on them, let them do their thing, you do yours. there is also no competition between sport bikes and cruisers. thats like bmx kids hating cyclers. two different versions of the same thing.
before you try divding up the biking world into those you're with and those you're against, you should probably learn a thing or two about your own bike.
Hey, I really like the M109R. I've ridden it and it's a really nice bike. I don't know much about the V Rod, but I want to see what it's like in comparison. They are definitely two different bikes with kinda the same thing in mind, but I can't dismiss the Zuki cuz I like Harleys. I'm a sports bike guy, too. Rode them for 6 years before I ever touched a Harley, and though I've been on Harley's for about 4 years now doesn't mean I think any less of the Sportsbike. They serve very different purposes. I like the 1200 Sporty, I Have a Softail, but love the WG and the SB, and I definitely want a SG. Not a fan of the RG though....Just don't like the look. Everyone has a preference.
My first thought was the OP may have been asking about the front which is possible. Plenty of Springers and FL front ends hanging off a Dyna. The *** end is a whole different story and I agree with prior posts, the OP was likely not stirring the pot but didn't know.

Definitely easier to go this direction. Sure be the ***** if a train came along!
