Purchased my new 2011 Wide Glide last Saturday. Getting Roland Sands breather, V&H 2 into 2 Big Radius, back LED break light, new levers and front turn signal relocation done. Was anticipating getting it at the end of this week. I just got a call from the shop and they told my the pipes I ordered are on back order for a couple weeks!!! I do see Dennis Kirk has 10 in stock. I wonder if my dealer would ever consider ordering them from there or if they have to order from the manufacturer?
Why don't you just buy them and take them to the dealer?
Agreed! Just make sure you call Dennis Kirk and have someone put the hands on a set before you do this, just because there web site say they have them doesn't really mean the have them in on hand, they might have them on order or there distributor says they have them.....sometimes the middle man has to wait for something they have!

I hear ya. I thought of that. The only thing is the pipes, breather, etc was all built into my buying price of the bike and all financing and everything has been signed and good to go. And they gave me 25% off parts for my bike purchase so then I would have to see how much money they could give me back for the pipes and if it is enough for me to cover the Dennis Kirk pricing. It would kind of be creating a mess. I shot my sales rep an email and maybe the parts manager will see Dennis Kirks price on them to be good enough to order but I am assuming he gets better pricing from the Manufacturer (V&H).
I was just mentally prepared to get my new bike this Friday and already scheduled a nice ride with the fellas. I just hate to wait 2 more weeks when I wasn't mentally prepared for it to take that long. This bike is all I can think about all day and night....ha!
are you kidding? tell them to do all the work except the pipes and then take it back once the pipes come in. drop it off at night and pick it up the next afternoon.
personally there is no way i would wait another 2 weeks after already waiting for 1
week..... i dont know how you guys do it i bought my WG last saturday morning and
rode it home, if i would have had to wait a week i would freak out..

I know what you are saying but when I bought my bike I told them I wanted the following before it went out the door: Front Turn Signal Relocate, LED Break Light, Daytime Running Break Light, New Levers, V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes, Roland Sands Air Breather and have it Dyno Tuned. They had to order the parts and told me the parts would be in by mid this week and they would have everything put on and ready to go by end of this week. I thought that was pretty reasonable. Then they called me yesterday telling me the pipes are on back order for a couple weeks through V&H.
What I don't want to do it get the bike, ride it, get the pipes, put them on, take the bike back to get Dyno'd, etc. I want the bike to be all set up and ready to go when it leaves the dealership. I am all about doing my own labor on my bike but I've got 3 young ones and it's hard to find the time with my schedule so I didn't have a problem adding a couple hundred bucks labor to my financing for the dealership to have it all ready. Just sucks that V&H has them on back order but Dennis Kirk has them in stock.
That sucks, I had a similar situation, same thing with the pipes. I eneded up ordering mine from Dennis Kirk and bringing them in and had them on in a few days. I would call the sales rep and tell him your're situation and what you want to do, if there good guys they'll work it out.. hopefully

Mickey01...love your bike!! My sales rep just called me and said they can cut me a check to order them somewhere else if that makes it faster. I asked him how much the check would be though b/c they gave me the parts 25% off. So hopefully the check will be around $720 which is the price they are on Dennis Kirk. I'm waiting to hear back.
Thanks for the compliment, Have to get some new pics up, I added a lot to bike over last few months. I would think the check would be close to Dennis Kirks price , they usually are lower even with the dealers typical 20% discount. If Dennis Kirk doesn't have them you can get them from Direct Harley parts, about $30 cheaper than Kirks price I think.. http://www.directharleyparts.com/exh...yna-p-149.html
