Default Chopper Kits

I have a '99 wideglide and have been thinking about putting a AMS chopper kit on 14 degree rake with 8 over. Has anyone done this and what were the results? I love the look but am worried about handling.

There are a few people om here who have added some rake... But I'm not sure that much... Do a search in the forums you will find a rake and trail calculator... I am willing to bet you would have a problem with handling... Unless you plan and changing the rake on the neck of your frame..I hope this helps

I have ridden them on Sportys. They do not change the bikes trail numbers and they ride great. They are NOT just raked trees, but a system that changes the forks geometry. They look kind of funny and people will call them "fake" choppers. I think their biggest setback is that any custom builder can rake your frame the right way for less than the $1700 the kit costs. But its a permanent modification and the kit isn't.

I aint no authority on raked front ends, but i found this interesting article from J&P that could help you decide one way or the other.

Sounds nice to look at, but going around corners could be a problem. My friend just did a chopper kit on his glide, looks great with the springer on the front. Does not like to turn, but runs good in a straight line.

Mine is an 07 FXD with an AME Wide Glide 14 degree with 8 over tubes.
Handles way better than stock, takes a bit more real estate to turn it around.
I'm very pleased with my kit.
Pics in my Gallery.
