can any one help
hi there i just brought an 1998 fxd wide glide rode it back over 100 mile and it was fine used it a couple times when i got home it was fine the went out on and was on a national speed limit road doing about 80 mph when the bike started to slow down i changed down a gear but still was loosing speed i pulled over to the side of the road with the engine still running i put it in first gear but the bike would not move so i switched off the engine and waited 5 - 10 min started her up put her in first but still she wouldn't move so i switched the engine off again left it in first and thought id see if it would move and she did n i know that if a bike is in gear with the engine off and the clutch not engaged it should not be pushable but i can so any idea what has broke i hope its nothing to bad any ideas would be great thanks
Did you look at your rear drive belt,, is the clutch cable seized , you could tell by a loose clutch lever, these are all quick checks, but to me it sounds like the rear drive belt, or really out of adjustment clutch.
I would dare say your clutch is toast. At least thats what it sounds like. Does the engine rev when you give it gas only to have the bike not move? It's either that or the teeth on your belt are gone.

All of the above are easy to check out. You failed to mention what sounds and other oddities were going on. Did the clutch feel normal? Did you heard a whirring sound? Did you feel some vibrations when letting the clutch out.
I'm guessing a too loose and worn out belt.

At first I thought you might have a brake caliper binding up, but by the time I read to the end of your post, there is only 1 logical explanation, your clutch is shot. If it was way out of adjustment, it's definitely shot now.
