Default CA Smog Garbage????

I have a 2004 FXDI with the smog canister dangling from the frame. My question is; What is the best method of removal? will I have to worry about anything from the FI once I do remove it? Thanks

quoted from someone else here on the forum from a while back:

1. Remove black circular metal cap to reveal the two hoses attached to the canister
2. Pull both hoses off the canister (One says CARB, the other FUEL)
3. There is a clip that you have to depress on the bracket holding the canister so you
can slide the can off.
4. Once the can is off, take the fuel hose and hide it within the frame. I relocated it
on the bottom of my frame where there's a hole that fits it perfect. DO not plug
this hose as its the fuel vent (Don't cut the hoses short incase you need to reinstall
it again)
5. Pull off the carb (vacuum) hose from the intake (AC). Its the hose running along the
wire harness right above the right side rocker boxes. (If you do not want remove
that hose, again, relocate it in between your frame and motor down below to hide it)
6. Plug that carb hose at the end if you decide to keep it. If you remove it, plug the
intake inlet where you pulled the hose from. (You can buy hose plugs at any auto
parts store)
7. Remove the rear brake system by removing the two allen bolts. This allows you to
move freely around and to get the bracket off.
8. Remove the two torx bolts.
9. Pull the brakcet up and out because it has a little hook that keeps it in place in
case the screws rattle off.
10. Once the carb (vacuum) hose or intake inlet is plugged, canister and bracket are
removed, fuel vent hose is open and tucked away...you're done.

Yep! Yanked mine off very shortly after I got my Fat Bob. No issues ever arose that I'm aware of...

Tear it off, cap the plug at the carb/tb.... You can just let the tank vent line stay where its at..... I zip tied
mine to the frame.... No ill
Effects...

from PHA-Q-"cap the plug at the carb/tb...."

from *****-"What about fuel injection? I don't have a carb."

Note: carb/tb- "tb" same as "throttle body" same as "electronic fuel injection".....
