I got tired of the wind screaming through my ears on the highway with the 3/4 Daytona, and I kind of like my son's 3/4 with the flip-up face shield, so I decided to give a full helmet a try.
I ended up getting a black G-Max GM48 for $89.
It's not too bad around town, but it's awesome on the highway. Around town I just raise the visor a little for more air-flow, but put it all the way down on the freeway. Makes a huge difference. I can hear the engine now, rather than just the wind screaming around my ears.
I never thought I would want to wear such a thing, but I like it. Even looks alright with the tinted shield on it. Here's a pic with the clear shield:
If you ride a lot at highway speeds, I highly recommend that you look into a full-face helmet. Makes a world of difference.
I agree about the ff helmet on the highway. But around town just to hot. Even with my windshield and 1/2 helmet you get alot of wind noise. Thus the reason i ride with ear buds and an ipod. This gets rid of all the wind. I have been thinking of getting an open face 3/4 helmet.
I still wear my full face Shoei from my crotch rocket days. Not to mention all the crap that hits you in the face when you're wearing a skid lid. And of course the protection is maximum. A lot of stupid cagers here in Tucson not watching what the f@%$ is going on around them...
nothin wrong with a full face helmet. i ride mostly with a non dot turtle shell. but also have two 3/4 helmets and a full face harley helmet for winter. a little hot for me in the summer but i wear it at night. and i agree they make a world of difference with the wind. and my girlfriend tells me it makes me look more hardcore when i wear it.
I have an Arai Vector that I got on clearance at one of the helmet clearance sites online. The graphics are a little goofy but I can live with it for the price . 299 .00 for a Vector Leopard graphics model. I have a screwed up neck and this helmet fits and feels great . Wore it all day my last 600 mile hwy ride. Hit rain , little snow and everything in between. I highly recommend a pinlock shield insert if you can get one. Never thought id say it . I used to laugh at the guys who wore full face helmets when I was younger. Looks like the laugh was on me because now I dont need a windshield and im still very comfortable.
I just ordered a scorpion transformer 900. I went back and forth on 3/4 and full face. This helmet is both, you can remove the front in seconds to make it a 3/4, it also has the retractable sheild for your eyes. Pricey, but I think its better than having several different helmets around. $254 after taxes......
