Just put on a new set of Progressive 412 HD shocks - wow, what a difference! I don't know if the old OEM's were that bad or if these are just that much better. I don't slam over the bumps anymore - my spine is breathing a sigh of relief!!(Not to mention my ****!)
I just did the same install i have the HD 412's rode with them on the 3 notch with wife on back seems way better, stockers would bottom out on the highest level. i going to put them on the lowest setting today and try them out
If you have not already, we recommend the fork spring kit, will clean up front end wallow and help eliminate brake dive as well as far better bottoming control. An inexpensive and relatively easy to install part, too.

I recently put some 412s on my Fat Bob and found them to be poor. No matter what settings they were on they either bottomed out or rode very hard. Seemed to be no middle ground. Went back to the stock shocks until I find something better.
Serves me right for not getting some Hagons in the first place - best shocks made. Just thought I'd try the Progressives as they seem to sell well in the US. Lesson learnt.
