I did it on my bike w/o a lift. It was a good 1 1/2 hr job b/c you want to be careful not to scratch anything. Use cardboard when removing the fender. If i remember correctly dont you cut the turn signal wires and then butt connect them back together later on?

Almost every post is from a sedona orange wideglide. What nobody likes the little "sissy bar". For now i like it. Only problem i have is my son or wife wont ride with me because the sissy bar is to low. They would ride if it had a taller one with a backrest pad. I may wind up changing though..........

I don't want to hijack this thread, but they make a great little pad for it and allows it act like a real backrest. The pad slips on/off in a second.

I love the little bar on my Bob. To me, it blends in well and is still functional.

haha I realized this too. I went with the sedona orange because I was thinking *everyone* has a black harley... apparantly, everyone on this forum with a wideglide went sedona orange. it's a great looking bike though and when the sun hits the tank, the colors look amazing.

and I actually love the stock sissy bar, but like you said, the lady wants the backrest put on so she can lean back and be comfortable on the long rides. otherwise I'd totally keep it stock

I changed mine because I don't like the short one. No one had a problem riding with the short one, but I do prefer to have something behind my children when they ride on the back. I also like that I can hang a Kury roll bag on it without it being on the fender or the p-pad.

Otherwise, I think the little one looks just fine and is functional for an adult riding on the back. I was worried about my kids, though.

That is not the proper way to do the job.

Really I find that interesting since that's how the directions tell you how to do it. But hey I'm just a stupid mechanic.
Best advice bro follow the directions that HD provides. Not to say that solder and shrink tube is bad but some people may not the know how or ability to do it. So just listen to HD and the job is ez!!
