Can anyone help with suggestions on changing the rear fender on a 2011 Fat Bob? I'd like to switch the "Bobtail" fender with a 2011 Wide Glide "chopped" fender. I caught a few 2010 posts and it seems like the 2 can swap out pretty easily - problem is, when I took this to my local H/D dealer, the techs looked bewildered and I spent 30 minutes listening to them explain how complicated this would be. Is this a pretty easy switch, or will it require a lot of modifications? I'm assuming it is just a fender, rear lights and license plate relocator issue, with the wide glide fender assembly fitting in place of the fat bob fender. I'm wondering what's up with my local HD shop and why they seemed to think this is so difficult. Thanks!
To those who like the fat bob bobtail fender - no offense intended! I love my fat bob - just not a fan of the bobtail fender.
Here are the threads I have saved, plus I'm sure that are some I'm missing, just do a search. Easy swap, just read through these and PM anyone that's done it.
Thanks for all the threads. Seeing pictures of those who've already made the rear fender swap really motivates me to do the same thing - awesome bikes!
I think the wide glide rear fender gives a better sight line with the C & C LoPro solo seat I have - I have to admit, perhaps the change might be a bit of a pain in the ***, and maybe I'll just get used to the "flip" of the bobtail fender. Everyone- thanks for the advice! Once I decide for sure, I'll post the pictures. As for now, putting on Rush 1.75 slip ons this weekend, so with the LoPro solo seat, I should be good with my modifications for awhile.
