'03 FXDL is my ride.
I'm wanting a solo seat for more comfort/better ride. I like the Sundowner seat better than the others I've found. I'd appreciate opinions of that one or others. Thanks
The most comfortable seat I have owned is a mustang vintage solo. Looks similar to the sundowner solo, (I think it looks better, just my opinion though). For comfort, it is an all day long ride seat. Best thing I ever did for my comfort. I use my lepera bare bones in sig pic for short rides as it is not very comfy for all day rides.
right now i have the h-d low profile 2-up seat. made the mistake of using that for the all-day event that is the experienced rider course. bad idea... my butt STILL hurts!
No regrets on my Danny Gray butt crack Big seat.
Gets more comfortable with time.
Real leather with great back support.
Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Great for planting you butt where it belongs not shuffling around.
I've tried the sundowner and although it was comfortable it raised me quite a bit. I felt like I was siting too high and somewhat unstable although I'm sure you can get used to it. The Mustang vintage wide is the one I have now and it is perfect. I have the one with a backrest and I can spend 8 hours in the saddle without any complaints. When it comes to saddles my theory is you can buy a good one and cry once because of the price or you can buy cheap and cry twice.
I had looked at the Mustang #75762 Vintage Solo. It is either 15" or 16.5" wide....indicates both measurements. (Tom, is that what is on the bike in your photo?)

Dave,
The pic in my photo is my lepera bare bones, NOT COMFY
Here's a couple of pics of the mustang vintage solo on my bike.

I have mounted a "rigid" FXDP seat to my FXD 2003.
Sometimes these seats show up at Ebay. If you're interested, I could post a parts diagram with the p/n's needed....
When you click this link you will find a Dyna FXDP with spring seat which will fit Dyna models up to 2003.
