$1200 is insane. Internally wiring drag bars with integrated risers is a pain, but not $1000 worth of a pain. Do it yourself, the internal wiring is the difficult part, soldering and shrink-wrapping is a piece of cake.
BTW, don't know your timeline but my bars (HD Street Slammers coated gloss black) will probably be for sale shortly.
$1200 for a good set of bars and controls is not too bad. I spent a bit more than that, but I did get a grip ace, internal throttle, new controls (Performance Machine), and fat bars with 2 inch risers.
You have to remember that you are paying for labor as well as parts. I did the labor myself, but the parts ended up costing me quite a bit. You get what you pay for.
It's always....how much is it worth to you.....not how much does it cost.
I had 10in drag bars on my 08 streetbob and recently changed to 10 in t bars. I internally wired and changed out myself i ended up spending 270.00 for the bars and 40.00 turn siganl relocation and riser bushings and bolts 100.00. If you do it your self just have patience and time. There are alot of forums that deal with that on here. Good luck.
Did my apes myself in the winter time, was afraid at first but a friend convinced me to do it myself, $1200.00 for bars and controls + labor, yes maybe? but w/o controls hell no!! Why buy controls? you lose that money in the end when you sell it! (but save origanal parts and swap when you sell)
