Default windshield height?

New rider this year. got a GREAT deal on an 05 lowrider. I got a 14"windshield on ebay- it's like new! Finally took it out today and above 60 it started slamming my head around. Thinking about reselling on ebay or here and trying an 18 incher. Worried about not being able to see above it. But the 14" makes things worse on the highway than without one. Any thoughts?

Play with the angle of the 14 before you get rid of it IE. tilt it forward or back and try it out it may fix the problem.

I have a 14" windvest and have no buffeting. You do have to play with the angle, start by setting it even with the forks

Which WS is if you have? You can get a different height from Clearview and they also have some with a recurve top - cheaper than a whole new WS. I got a Windvest and it sits in the box because with the bars and risers I have (from Fat Bo Lo) there just doesn't seem to be enough room for the clamps so I think I will just do without in the summer and when it gets cold I'll put on the biggest honkin' QD Harley makes and if need be get a one of the Clearview recurve ones. I don't really care if I look through it or not since I rarely ride in the rain and its just for winter months.

When you guys say play with the angle, does more upright or more lean help the buffeting? I put a slip streamer on mine because I didn't like the look of a big shield. The top is just below my eye level. Right now it is at the same angle of the forks, and the buffeting on my helmet is worst than no windshield at all. At speeds below 50-55 it is fine, but from there on it's bad. Thanks for the help

Well I can see about 2 inches over my shield. I had to adjust mine so the top was pushed all the way out(forward) at the top and thats how I pretty much eliminates the buffeting. Stiill get just a little.

Thanks, I will try tilting it out a little. I raised it up off the head light about 1-1/2" already. It is great with keeping the wind out of the face, but after 55 it's tto much to the head. I read other posts about a wind blocker from a dresser that was modified to fit below the bottom tree. How much buffeting really comes up from there?
