I am having some issues with my 2010 fxdc, I am having some issues trying to start it, maybe batery is almost dead, I recently noticed that if I have it in neutral with the jiffy stand down, engine wont start as if I was in gear.
Just had the same issue on my 11 wideglide turned out that the power cable coming down from the battery to the starter was loose. Was told by the dealer that's were all the power runs through. Would be the first place I would check.
Make sure all battery connections are tight, try twisting the connectors to make sure they are snug. I had a problem a month back and discovered that even though I thought I had tightened them down, they weren't tight, they just had enough resistance to make them feel tight. My bike wanted to die at times and finally wouldn't start.
I gave the battery connections a twist and they easily rotated. I tightened them down a bit more and discovered that they were loose, they must have had a bit too much resistance when I first tightened them down leading me to believe that they were tight.
One other thing is to keep the battery hooked up to a Battery Tender. This will keep your battery in top shape and extend it's life. Your bike might already be equipped with a plug-in receptacle for a Battery Tender, but I had to do my own. It's plugged in whenever I park it in the garage, just like my car that doesn't see everyday use and my dirt bike that I haven't ridden for months.
Keep your bike on a battery tender. The bike not only needs the battery to crank it (like a car) but also to run it (unlike a car) Tenders' are inexspensive and well worth the investment. If you don't have a receptacle on your bike, PM me, I probably have a spare one I can send to you.
