I don't know for sure, but the cats are in the slip ons so even if you could it wouldn't do much. Keep an eye on the classifieds here, last time I looked someone had a set of rush slip ons for cheep.
Good luck
I got a set of Screamin Eagle slip ons from one of the members here for $125 shipped. You can find some deals here. The BCT Monster baffles cost $80 and the QQ's run $130, but you can get a set of new slip ons (Rush, Cycle Shacks) for not much more, without having to remove the stock baffle. You can always sell the stockers if you think you'll never use them again, or keep them around just in case
I have a set of Cycle Shack slip ons now-they sound ok at idle and throttle up-but a little 'tinny' at higher crusing speeds-I was wondering if I can get the baffles out of the stock mufflers I took off and replace with the Monsters, to see how they would sound-but not sure if that was possible to do. Will probably go with a set of V & H slip ons somewhere down the road. The Cycle Shack slip ons sounded great with an older Sportster I had-that's why I went with them this time-but like I said-I don't really like the sound of them.
yeah i guess i could-i just never done it before and if i messed up the cycle shack slip ons-id have to put the damn quite stock ones back on -do you just bang them out or how?
Since they are relatively new the should come out fairly easy. There should be a set screw you have to take out and them if you can get a vice grip in the inside you may be able to pull them out. Some use a slide hammer. I believe there are post on this subject.
I know on the sportster forum website there was a picture step by step...
I think you have a much better chance with the cycle shacks, the factory ones are probably rivited on.
The first slip ons I had before the Cycle Shacks were the V&H. To me the sound was too high pitched, so I put in the quiet baffles. Better, a little deeper but still was a little annoying. Then I installed the BCT QQ baffles and the sound was way better.
On the recommendation of a buddy who was helping with the tuning of my TMax I got the CS. They have a beefier sound, just what I was looking for. Bike runs better, too.
Sorry to take so long to get to my point, but if you don't like the CS with the stock baffle you might not like the V&H (They are not cheap, either). But it's all personal preference.
