I guess what im asking is. What do these specs tell you this cam would perform like? Or where the power/torq would be?
The intake close is probably the most important part of the cam.It pretty much determines where the power will be.For the most part, early close means more tq, less hp & you can't run as much compression.late close usually means more hp & less tq.With a later close you can run more compression. It depends on what you want?? You have to find a happy median. You can't have it all. With a good tune you can usually get a good amount of both.I'm not an expert, but this is my observation!!!
That 557 doesn't look much different than the Andrews 54. The 54 does come on towards the midrange. You may like the 557. Besides, it's free.
Very true SC .....Im gonna put them in and see how they are... Im saving all my pennies for the Mackie Megasphere kit, my buddies 06 dyna with that kit Is a monster, its amazing how well that 95" kits works.... Just shy of the magic 100hp mark....
Cams are finally going in tonight, I'll post up my thoughts on them as soon as i get to ride it, i will have to change basemaps in the Tmax once im done to really get an idea of how they work
Cams went in without any issues, nothing crazy about those cams, seems stronger all the way around the gears, i was hopeing for a bit of a rush!!!!! Tmax will tweak a little and maybe there is some HP to be found???
Motor looks awsome all blacked out... Stocked to get rid of some more SHINNEY stuff. I'll give the tmax some time to work some magic and see where that takes me.
I never did cams before I did the swap on my '07. So easy a caveman can do it.
Even using a mild cam (I used Wood tw6-6) gives a nice little "seat of the pants" dyno test.
I bet you'll feel the difference if/when you perform the headwork to compliment the cams. A bump to compression, port, polish... that's in my future this winter as I won't be riding like I would in SC.
To be honest, im not impressed with the cams YET... Im kinda in a spot now cause i want to get the Mackie kit but its some heavy $$$$,
I guess ill just keep saving and do the motor RIGHT,
