Default vinyl wrap upper forks

Anyone ever use this product?

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...+black&x=0&y=0

I was thinking of wrapping the upper fork section. I know you can use PVC but think this might look better.

If you use wrap you would need to replace it when you have to remove the forks for service. Other than that it should work ok.

I picked up the dark window tint at wal-Mart for 10 bucks and did mine.

The oil in the forks does periodically require changing. The instructions and intervals are in your manual. For some it may take a while to reach that mileage. I change mine every time I replace the front tire. Adjustment of the steering head bearing also requires removal of the top triple clamp and when you put it back it may sit lower and could wrinkle the wrap.

I bought some vinyl wrap at a sign store that does graphics for cars and wrapped a set of KTM inverted forks a few years ago with it. They had a bell shape at the bottom though, so had to use a heat gun to shrink them to fit the contour.

You will need to remove them when pulling the fork tubes, just use a heat gun or hair dryer, then cut a new set out and reapply.

In reality, the slit PVC will probably work best for between the trees, but if you plan on using a HD QD clamp-on windshield, the PVC tubing won't allow it to fit.

Try to go to a sign supply or online at a place like http://www.hhsignsupply.com/productcart/pc/home.asp. I know online you can get 2 yards of matte black for about $6

Default Lower wrap making fork seals leak???

Ok I've got the upper vinyl wrap done looks great on my dyna. I'm not able to afford powder coating so I thought I'd use this vinyl wrap on the lower telescopics. Here's my concern.....the lower part goes into the shock area where the fork seals are and of course the fluid. Once I wrapped the lwer telescopic forks I got on the bike and afterwards I noticed fluid on the black wrapped forks. Now I know I've seen fluid on my forks before and yeah I suppose ypu would since it passes through the seals and into the fluid, so I'm sure it's common....but I'm not sure if I'm noticing more now because the vinyl wrap is on and it's more visible than the shiny uncovered forks, or is it possible there's more fluid because the vinyl is making the seals leak?

Has anyone else wrapped the lower forks and if so is it safe or is it going to damage the seals and make it leak......or am I just imagining things and is the fluid I'm seeing normal and just noticeable cuz it's black.

Should I remove it or leave it alone? Here's a pic too. I gotta admit it looks cool. Hoping I can keep it.

Only time I ever saw fluid on my fork tubes was when the seals were bad.

I'd think anything you put on the tubes is going to fry your seals.
