some help installing forward controls on an 07 street bob please :)
I am installing some forward controls on my 07 street bob. On the brake side there is a metal plate that sticks out from the bottom side of the motor that keeps the brake connecting rod from fitting. What is the size of that bolt/screw that is installed? I do not seem to have it. And since I am asking n00b questions, 1 seems to be between the motor and the frame itself, how in the hell do I get that out of there??
Thats an original exhaust bracket. Some one (georges garage?) makes a wrench to remove the screws. You may be able to cut an allen wrench type torx to fit.
I tried everything to remove all 3 torx screws for that exhaust bracket, but could only get two of them out.
I used a hammer to move it as far out as possible, them plasma torched the most it off and hammered the remaining nub back out of the way. A cut-off wheel or hack saw would have been almost as good.
Several months later I heard something hit the ground as I was cruising, it was that remaining piece.
Ya you can get the fwd's on with it on, I had to cut mine off to get my Martin Bros. pipes on, I'm sure with some time I could have fashioned a tool to get it off but it was juts easier to cut off what was sticking out.
