I am using the HD QD windshield. It works fine for me. There is a bit of room to adjust up and down but not much. Now that it's on I never take it off except for cleaning.
+1
I leaned mine as far forward as it would go, and that helped a lot.
Like two guys above, I use the HD QD. It measures 18.25" above the headlight opening and 18.75" wide. I had plenty of buffeting until I lowered it tight against the headlight and tilted it forward.
I'm good from 0 to 120 MPH with half, 3/4 or full modular helmet. A side wind can cause some turbulence, but it has to be under certain conditions and motorcycle speeds that I rarely encounter for more than a few minutes every once in a while.
Lots of good posts above, just take your pick. I'm sure that lowers can't hurt either, but I'm happy right now and have been for the year since I did the above changes.

+1 on that ! got the shield for a trip, thought the it would be ugly so went with quci detachable one, but its not that bad loooking and makes a world of difference for me...havent taken it off since it went on
I've had a 14" tinted windvest on two harleys now and love the look...(and I generally hate windshields) It has no buffeting and no noise. For as small as it is it does a great job. You can see a few pics in my gallery on my dyna.
