That's interesting. Wonder why it's the opposite on the 96 CI?

Also, there is no "A" motor. The is the 96 and the 96B. The "B" stands for balanced.

You have it backwards. The B (for "balanced") in the Softail has less torque than the standard motor (the dyna and touring motor).

Default B and Non B Engines

Ok...Here's the deal. ALL models of Harley above the Sportsters and Dynas (for 2012) have the 103 cu in engines.

For 2012 the Road King has the non B engine and has 103 cu in motor and produces 100 ft lbs of torque.

The 2012 Soft Tail Deluxe has the 103B motor and produces 98.7 ft lbs of torque.

No! It makes a couple tenths less as the balance sucks a little hp to spin it.

Since HD does not generally post HP of it's bikes, you can still tell by looking at the torque figures in the specs.

Also don't get fooled by the numbers.HD measures the torque at the crank vs at the rear wheel on a dyno

I was looking at 2011 bikes, both 96 cubes. the B motor makes more torque. I'm not sure about horsepower. The same was true in 2010 when I bought my Dyna.

It depends on which 2011 B motor you are talking about. I thought they were all the same. Check of the 2011 Blackline. It has less torque.
