I'm a brand new member here on HD Forums, reading everyones posts on the Dyna fourm is why I just purchased a 2011 Wide Glide. I do have a question for everyone. My wife has a 2006 Softail Deluxe and I have the 2011 FXDWG. What fuel stabilizer is everyone using? Can't stand fuel with ethanol in it. I's pretty hard to find fuel with out ethanol down in Florida. Thanks for the advise!!
Since 2003 I've used the red STABIL solution with no ill effects on the bikes other than a little rough after coming out of winter layup. I've started using the ethanol specific STABIL brand, the mix is slightly thinner with no noticiable loss of engine performance. Just google Stabil and read up on it.
You can use sta-bil however I use seafoam. Not only is it a fuel stabilizer but a fuel system cleaner too. So in the spring it doesn't run rough. I leave about half a tank in and put 1/4 of the can in. Done deal. I also use the seafoam fogging spray in the intake track so there won't be any corrosion on any intake parts and keeps the throttle body from being 'sticky' next season.

I don't use sea foam as a stabilizer only as a cleaner. Its a good product for keeping carbs cleen. I use it all the time in my boat and I periodically use it in the bikes, truck, snow blower etc. What I don't trust is its ability to stabilize this new ethenal fuel. I know startron and stabil marine formula weredesigned for ethenal. I have seen a topic or two on mikuni carbs having issues with ethenal that I believe had to do with corosion. Alot of these stabilizers have ethanol in them so be careful that you don't add to the problem.
Thanks guys, I've been driving diesels forever so running a fuel treatment isn't new but motorcycles are. I just want to make sure we keep 'em running great and not have any issues. Thanks again!!
You live in Florida, are you gonna put up the bikes for the winter? If not, I don't know why you want to put a stabilizer in them. You would be better off with a product like Seafoam in that case.
this is what I thought I did think that was only if you have major climate changes.
now I do have sea foam how often would you use this? every other fill up or every 6 months?
