Ok, here is a better pic with some weight on the shocks and after I took off the excess to match the diameter of the tire (somewhat, I still have a lot to go). I have looked at the stock gap and it doesn't seem to be much more, plus when I get the 180 under there I think is should look good, no?

By the way, thanks for all the honest replies, I appreciate everything that is being said, keep it coming.

I didn't quite get some of the comments, but after seeing the photo, I think I understand ... I believe the individuals were referring to the fore and aft 'gaps' illustrated by #1 and #2 ... (not sure what you could do to mitigate this 'gap') ....

I notice that the radius at #3 does not quite flow with the rest ... I would recommend it be worked to fit the curve of the rest of the fender if you are staying with a round, semi-circular shape for the fender sides ...

I drew the possible outline of another line #4 that picks up something of the feel of the stock fender outline ... I think some further shaping might make the fender more attractive ....

... Just my 'two cents' ....

After giving it a little thought, you could flatten the front of the fender where it meets the frame downtubes ... I did that with the rear fender I adapted for use on my bike ....

That would move the entire fender forward a little ....

Another thought is that you should make sure there is enough clearance for the angle cut above the upper belt guard ... as the shocks compress there's a risk the guard will hit the fender ... don't ask me how I know ... ....

What if you focus on the front (seat side) of the fender.

Some trimming there should allow you to slide the fender forward, making the fit much better.

It does look better with some of the sides taken out though.

Thanks for all the replies guys, SURFOR..I like the ideas I will mess around with some designs and see what I like. I like the idea of flattening out the front, I might see what I can do.

Anything you can do to shorten the gap between the back of the wheel and the fender would be very helpful. You don't want it to look like this:

If you lessen the gap on the rear and get the fender closer to the tire it will look much better. The 180 tire is only going to be wider thus filling the gaps on the sides not front and back, unless you go with a larger diameter rim then it would fill the front and reap gaps a bit. The truth of the matter is the fender just looks to large for the bike as it is, with some adjustments like stated above you should be getting to where you want to be I am guessing. Keep working on it you'll get it. Its already looking better.

The fender needs to follow th shape of the rim for starters, then u should put a radius at the end the fender edge mabe lower the bike it would look better....its a good start nonetheless, take ***** to do something like this on your own....

Sorry. IMHO Dyna's are supposed to be a 'light' bike. That makes it look anything but.

You're not alone. I applaud the fabrication effort but that look leaves me cold.
