I ran pipes and a big sucker for years before I got a SE tuner. It's just an engine, not a bomb. Some guys are so worried they'll only get 47,000 miles out of it instead of 50,000.
haha so who do i listen to? the guy with 8 posts or the guy with 4,680 posts? i know which one im leaning towards! i think ill just do the exhaust only for now and i decided to go with R&B racing lsr 2into1! ill do the a/c and tuner at a later date! prob a big sucker 2 and tts master tune when the are available for the 2012's! thanks for all the info and help guys
While I do not think you should confuse post count with knowledge, you also have to think logically about things and remember free advice is worth what you pay for it.

Good idea IMO LSR is a good pipe but a SuperTrapp SuperMeg is a lot more tunable with their disks and is less $$ DR VTWIN has them for a good price
I've heard good things about that pipe. I'm curious though. What kind of improvement are you expecting with just doing the pipe without going to a high flow a/c?

not expecting anything at all! untill i get an a/c and a tuner! just want the pipes because the stock ones sound so weak! but also want the extra power when i do decide to tune it

Some folks are good at talkin some are better at listening. I've been wrong before and I'll likely be wrong again, but unless you're replacing pipes with the same back pressure profile as what your taking off you'll change the flow dynamics. It's good to be an American, do what you want and enjoy the ride.

Since you are sticking to your theory, I have to ask, maybe you know more than I do, can you explain to me the physics of how it is possible to change the fuel ratio which is ignited and burned before the exhaust stroke in a 4 stroke motor?
How can changing how the exhaust waste leaves the motor affect the AFR before it is ignited so as to make it leaner?
My understanding of the 4 stroke IC engine makes your theory impossible, but I am always open to an education.
+1 on ThunderMax w/ AutoTune (TMAT) ... it replaces the entire stock ECM ... have not looked at their website to see if they're compatible w/ the '12 models yet, though ... I understand there are some pretty radical changes to the electronics on the '12 models (I think they split the boards up between 'chassis' and 'motor') ....
I am super-pleased with my TMAT ... and the performance I've been getting

Rich if you had a significant difference in flow characteristics of the pipes (scavenging, for example) ... it could change the characteristics of the fill rate of the combustion chambers at higher RPMs ... doubtful it would be noticeable on a stock motor under 'normal' street riding conditions ... I can't really formulate a theory on how it would affect the EFI ... if it was a wide-band O2 system, the ECM should notice a richer or leaner condition in the exhaust under the affected conditions and compensate ... however, with narrow-band O2 sensors it might adversely affect the AFR ... just thinking out loud here ....
