My cousin works for a powdercoating company and was thinking of havin a few items done in gloss black. Has anyone ever done the fork tubes?? anything wrong with doin this?? ive seen people do the triple trees and fork lowers.
1: you have to leave enough bare for travel through the seals.
2: getting them slid into the risers during assembly without damaging the powder coat would rough.
You cant powder the fork tubes at all. if you want them black you have to have them diamond like coated and its expensive! check out rocket bobs pete does some sick work and right now is the only that i know of that is dlc fork tubes. im waiting for mine to get done and shipped back to me
DLC costs me $300 & TiN (titanium nitride) costs $200 + Shipping & handling as a dealer. I do not understand when you wish just to change color to look cool and not change the OEM suspension as the purpose of it is to reduce stiction. A total waste of good money on the bikes I see here but that is not my call but yours.
Kung what was the cost for the tubes shipped and everything to rocket bobs. Super interested in getting mine done
i honestly cant remember in the end how much i ended up paying to have them done but i do remember it was expensive thats forsure. i did however end up buying a new set of tubes from the uk since thats where rocket bobs is at and on top of it i didnt want to be down for a month.
