I have a pair of Alpinestar SR2 gloves. They are very warm but I find them too thick and you lose feel for the controls on the grips. I find I have to look and the controls to hit the turn signal buttons.

Heated gloves and jacket.

I live in Canada and they extend my riding to work (Highway) by two months, if we don't get early snow

I can comfortly ride in the morning at 32deg (0 deg celsius)

If you already have a pair of leather gloves, try this. Go to a ski shop and get a pair of UnderArmor thinsulate glove liners. Don't know how many ski and winter sports shops are in your area.
I have ridden in temps that were in the upper 20's with this combination and my fingers stayed warm.

Gear that is not heated relies on insulation to preserve heat, the bulkier the better but unfortunately it does nothing to replace the heat that you are loosing. That is where heated gear has it's advantage. You wear a thin jacket liner and gloves and it replaces lost heat. That in turn keeps your core warm and allows your body to maintain circulation to your lower extremities so no more cold feet either.
Yup, I've tried using leather gloves, mittens, those heat inserts and even wearing rubber galoshes over my shoes to keep out the cold wind (which wasn't that bad). But like you said, you're only delaying time from when the heat finally escapes and you're cold. And once that happens, you're pulling over for heat or risking your safety by staying on the road.

I'm trying to save up for some Gerbing gear.

http://gerbing.com/index.php

Insoles (bike connection or battery) - http://gerbing.com/Products/insoles.php
Gloves (bike connection or battery) - http://gerbing.com/Products/Gloves/hybridGlove.php
Jacket liner (bike connection) - http://gerbing.com/Products/Liners/h...acketLiner.php
Pants liner (bike connection) - http://gerbing.com/Products/Liners/heatedPantsLiner.php

Each product is essentially $200 (though the insoles are $60). That's a lot but to be able to extend your riding season AND being very confortable during that extension may pay off in gas money and enjoyment. Plus, I'd be able to use the insoles and gloves at Chicago Bears games.

I haven't bought any of this yet. There are probably cheaper versions, not sure. And I might not even buy the exact jacket and pants liners either. Maybe the heated vest would be enough with the insoles and gloves. I have a pair of Scorpion Awe pants that are amazingly warm (probably down to 50 degrees for an extend amount of time....maybe more if I was getting extra heat from my hand, chest and feet).

However, once they salt those rodes in Chicago, riding season is done no matter what.

Gerbing T5 electirc gloves. Buy 'em now or buy a bunch of crap that does not quite cut then buy the Gerbings.

Do yourself a favor and buy your last pair of gloves first.

I have been using a pair of Olympia Leather Gauntlets for many a year and they are awesome.....When it is really cold I have a pair of Gerbings Heated gloves with the Thermostat and I use them on longer rides or when it is in the 30's or below..... I find that warm hands makes for a very happy ride....

Gerbings are the shizzle man... I ride 365 and with the wind chill I'm covinced that sometimes it's down into the 20's... maybe teen's! but my hands stay toasty warm. That plus a 2-piece gortex snow machine suit and some sealskin (tm) socks from Bass pro shop.

I would also recommend Ski gloves. Mine are racing gloves, they have padding on the backhand side, are waterproof and very warm,, yet flexible enough on grips and buttons!

My most used pair of gloves are the old Police gauntlets I purchased at a tag sale for $10.00.
For the real cold 35 and below I use Harley Davidson heated gauntlet gloves,
not cheap at $150.00 but they do work great.
