I was wondering if this is true or not.Someone said to put a piece of cardboard underneath your bike when putting it up for the winter, they said the cardboard would stop the bike from sweating. My garage is not heated but it does have a cement floor and the bike is covered with a breathable cover.

Thanks.

Mike.

It's been my experience that the breathable cover don't breath so well. Not sure about the cardboard trick but that cover will hold in whatever condisation you do have.

I agree with blaze. My bike is stored in my garage with no cover and concrete floor. I think with a cover on it, even though it says breathable, it will still trap moisture. The cardboard trick, never heard of that one.

may be crazy but i keep a fan going on low in the winter, seems to move enough air
so condensation wont build up.

The only cover I have ever used (if I use one) is a really thin bed sheet. Very breathable and keeps the dust off the bike. Anyother cover in IMO is over kill unless your storing your bike in a barn or somewhere where less clean than a garage, in the garage use bed sheet on nothing, my thoughts.

WG2011 funny you say that. I do the same thing. I just drape a sheet over the top just to keep the dust off. Doesnt cover the whole thing nor the side i just do it to keep the dust off

I also use some old bed sheets to keep the dust off the bikes. In the winter I use Golden Rods. A Golden Rod is like a long curling iron. They come in various lenghts. I got mine a West Marine. I think you could google it and it will come right up. It uses very little electric. You place it under the bike and the warm air that rises keeps the condisation off the bike. I think it work really well...........My 2 cents

I had to store my old Shovel outside one winter under a makeshift lean to up on wooden pallet... put a bale of hay in with bike, really helped pull moisture away from bike... fan is the best solution though, absolutely.
