I run the pillion seat that attached to the HD fender rack. The back rest attaches to the pillion seat and gos on and off in about two seconds.
Thats the "permanent" modification that I don't want to do. The bare rear fender is the look I want to keep. I don't think it looks bad at all, just not my style.
The Corbin dual tour seat (Google it) has a removable rider and passenger back rest. But its expensive and may only swap with a Corbin solo because of the mounting pin. Unless you drill a 3/4 inch hole in the non-corbin seat pan to allow for the mounting pin.

what????? a detachable sissy bar is not a permanent mod. just different mounting points on rear struts. I think you mis understood what these people were recommending.
My bitch bar is quick release,I have a double seat that with the removal of one screw turns it into a solo seat. My bitch bar attaches to the rear lights and a small peg that is un-noticeable when the bar is off. In less than 5 minutes I can go from two up to solo street bob style. I got the 2 up/solo seat for sale. The h-d leather fender cover is included. Pm me with your email for pics. 50 bucks plus the ride

google some pics. you will see
The permanent mod I was referring to was the HD fender rack.
I looked at pads, detachable this and that and finally just bought a 2-up seat that mostly hangs on the garage wall. But when needed it's there and only takes a couple of minutes to put on. I don't care for the looks of the 2-up seat but when she's on the back...who cares.
I was in the same situation - wanting to keep my Street Bob look streamlined but also be able to switch it up quickly and easily. 9 times out of 10, I ride with my stock solo seat which is plenty confortable for any riding less than 200 miles. If it's a longer trip or if I have a passenger, I can quickly swap out the solo seat with my Sundowner seat. I then add a quick-detach sissy-bar/luggage rack. This setup works great for me.
