Congrats on the Bob, and welcome to the Dyna forum!!!!
Well I just finished the deal on my bike, I am getting raped by the interest at 21%[sm=jawdrop.gif]
I got no credit but I got the note on my own, they said next time 7% to 8% so thats cool.
I got $2300 in accessories ( header, PC, and other odds and ends installed), and extended service plan that I hope to not have to use. So out the door $18390.00, did I get the shaft or does that sound about right.
I really don't care I just want my azz in that seat[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
The 21% is killer.............. I had to do 16.5% and thought that was a bummer. After my $1k down, and added forward controls, I think I walked out owing 13,500.
Hope you got just what you wanted................... The payments shouldn't get in the way of all the money you'll spend on other goodies for it.
I got approved at the New Orleans store for 7.25% but that was after Katrina and they couldn't find me what I wanted. So I go to Baton Rouge and they have the super glide that I wanted. I get dropped off 60 miles from home only to find out that they were going to charge me 12.99%! I was ready to walk! I talked them down to 8.25% but then I had to ride home in the dark (which I hadn't planned on and in the middle of "love bug" season) Since I was putting about $4,500 down and financing $10K I used one of those interest free cards the next week and paid off the Harley account. I don't do business with the BR HD shop anymore and the NO shop is under new owners. I still buy 90% of my parts from Surdykes.
As for the 21%, do as they say. Simulatineously, get a low limit card and pay for everything with it. (most utility companies allow credit card paments) Pay it off every month. Soon you will get those low interest cards in the mail and then you can give the HD guys the finger!!
Way to go...I hope you enjoy it...Take this point of view..
Here's how I play cards....If I lose $100 but I had $200 worth of fun, I am still up $100...
If you bought your Harley for $18390...I imagine that over the life of the bike(or maybe even the 1st year) you will probably have about $10,000 worth of fun so you will only be down about $8390....Of course you will spend about $5000 in upgrades and accessories which will put you up to about $13390 so you will still be ahead by about $5000 dollars...
Oh hell...what does it matter, you own a harley...Here's the bright side...the one you buy at 7%-8% interest will be the bike of your dreams and it will be more expensive.. Nothing comes without sacrifices..
Enjoy,
jdog
BTW It seems I rationalize my poker games that way quite often!
I bought a 2006 Dyna super glide, brand new, My bike with $800 in accessories, i did not buy the extended warranty, it was $15,558 out the door, i put $2000 down making it $13,558. My interest rate is %9.8 which i think is horrible since 4 years ago i bought a brand new 2002 Ford Ranger, with $0 down and got %0 interest. I have a 760 credit score, which is really good and %9.8 is the best they could give me. I bought the bike in March and i've already paid it down to $7000, after i sold my dirt bike and my 2nd truck. I will be doing a balance transfer to this new credit card i'm getting which gives me %0 APR till Jan 2008, so i'll save some money on interest, and get the title to my bike early.
Congrats on your Street Bob. Got mine about a month ago at Renegade HD in Alexandria, LA. They wanted to give me 12.7% so I just borrowed from my retirement at 5%. Saved a bunch by doing that. I walked out of their paying $15,837.00 total. I didn't get the extended warranty, gap insurance or anything else. What did you all pay for your Bobs if you don't mind me asking. I thought I got a pretty good deal.
Congrats on the bike and if your that is all that matters.
Word of suggestion.....pay your payments on time. In a year from now, shop the internet to see if you can refi that for a lower payment. It may take you 18 months to apply to give a little more track record.
