I doubt I will do much riding this winter. So, I've had the oil changed, washed the bike, and the battery is connected to the battery tender. Stabil in the gas tank.
I'm looking for a good cover to keep the dust off of my bike this winter in my (unheated) garage.
I like the looks of the HD indoor breathable cover.
I was curious what others here may use.
I'm also open for any other advice to follow during winter storage.
I just use a fleece throw blacket on mine. Lately though I haven't covered it. Gives me something to do and wipe it down with my mini duster. You are on the right track for storage if you are letting it sit. Don't start the bike for short runs in the garage because you may build moisture in your tank. If you have a good jack keep it off the ground. If you don't move the bike at least once a month to prevent flat spots. Next ride season if you get flat spots they will even out after about 20 miles. I've had my bike sit on the tender with stabil for four months straight and I never started it and when the season rolled around she fired right up. Some say change the oil before you store it and when you de- winterized it.
just a bed sheet when parked indoors. I also went to a wholesale fabric warehouse in my town and purchased a soft black waterproof material that I use sometimes when my bike is parked at work. Cheap works great.
I always park on concrete so I use heavy cardboard under the bike to keep the lime from leaching under the frame. Not sure if this is correct but have been told the lye or lime is caustic to the aluminum and it doesn't hurt to ad a layer of protection.
mine will be in a car port. all sides open. Wondering my self whats the best way to store. it. not to sure the best way for outdoor storage in maryland. winters are not brutal, but they are still pretty cold
Here is my winter storage tip, I don't use cover at all, if you worry about dust, I would put a bed sheet on top. The first year I put my Harley in winter storage, covered it with a nice indoor cover, by the time spring comes I pulled the cover off, water marks all over the bike, paint, exhaust, chrome you name it, some marks I have to use a lot of polish and elbow grease to take them off. Basically You want the bike to breath, cover it up in the winter will build up moisture, I don't recommend, just my a s s opinion lol.
