i have a 2011 street bob. i put the vance and hines short shots on and the fuel moto tuner i am looking for an upgraded air cleaner. i like the look of my stock cover. is there one out there that uses that cover? is this what the harley "stage 1" intake kit is? also id like to run some kind on knn or other washable filter. any kits out there that can meet all my needs and wants?
Look at the harley site and it will have pics of what you want. You have to replace the backplate to get rid of that stupid plastc cover. I think you can just buy the backplate from harley and order a K&N filter. I believe the harley one is washable but do not oil it. I think the K&N type will probably last you pretty much forever.
Since you bought the fuel moto tuner why didn't you just buy the set up from them, I'm sure they can set you up with what you want.
how do the screamin eagle kits measure up to the "big sucker" i still got 80 bucks left on my gift card to the dealership. and this is the last mod im going to do untill summer rolls around again. i can swap in a knn filter in the place of the one in the kit right? makes sense to me.
Those intakes are pretty much the same. I prefer the big sucker but if I had $80 at the dealer I'd go with that. It should come with a filter, so use it until you have to replace it.
The Screamin Eagle kit is cheap Chinese made cast aluminum. Arlen Ness and Vance and Hines kits are both high quality products Made in the USA. The Vance & HInes VO2 kit has the best design overall. If you are buying new(full price) I would get the V&H since they are all about the same $
If you are looking for a low cost solution you can pick up a H.D./Screamin Eagle backplate for cheap on ebay but be aware you may need the air cleaner studs and breather plugs that usually come in the kit. The screamin eagle backplate that is an upgrade for Dynas is often a stock part on certian Softails and Roadkings. I found the screamin eagle part on H.D.s website, obtained the backplate part number from the "instructions" download and found a used plate, studs & plugs for $35 on ebay. I also picked up a HD-0800 K&N filter for $37 so I only paid $72 for the entire kit that would of cost $139 at H.D.

I'd get the Vance and Hines if I were you. Bought one of those big suckers from Arlen Ness when I had my Sportster and believe me his customer service ends once he ships the kit to you. After my experience with them I felt like the big sucker.
