$$$ Cost Efficiency?
I'm looking to get some apes. I wan't them internally wired and I don't have the gusto to do it myself, so aside from the obvious "do it yourself", what's the most cost effective way to get my desired result?
A) Get JUST handlebars only on eBay and take it to a dealer/indy to hook everything up?
B) Get bars and cables and take them to get installed
c) Order from Hill Country Customs pre-wired, then still probably take them to get installed (I don't trust myself to have everything wired in, straight and tight)
In other words, should I get a cheaper basic product and pay more in labor, or order an almost complete product and pay less labor hours?
I remember not long ago someone saying Harley quoted them at $1100 for apes and install which seems pretty ridiculous.
If I did something like this:

What kind of labor would be involved? Would it just be a simple 1 hour or so at the dealer or do you thin kit would all come out about even either way?
Thanks in advance for any advice...

Here you go. Also look at the sticky on the dyna page. Time depends on you. Took me two hours, but I was taking my time and listening to music, smoking cigars and drinking beer. If I wanted to I can get less then an hour no t that I've done it twice. It's not difficult IMO

Thanks JaronB, I saw that link earlier. Pretty helpful info, but I live in a condo complex...can't have parts all strung out in the lot. If I had a garage I'd just take my time and be extra careful and figure it out myself, but being out in the sun on hot asphalt is less than an ideal working condition.
first of all, I know more than anyone how gorilla wrenching can be, and wrenching in other than ideal environments ( i should include pictures...) but simply put, apes is a breeze. Buy the apes from JP Cycles, midwest, jirah, who ever, when they show up UPS, mock them up on the bike, measure for cable length, put previous bars back on, order cables and such, reassemble when parts arrive, too easy. 30 minute job.
and... you can buy a set of apes from a parts dealer like JP cycles, midwest, etc., starting at about 50 bucks.

I've been looking at this same thing myself.I would get apre wired set up from Hill country customs and add the connectors so it's truly plug and play. Then install everything myself except the brake line I don't trust myself to get that part right. But I already have 12" apes that are not internally wired so I know all the cables I have now will work .So I plan on getting an estimate from a local indy before I tear it up.I also wish there were more options for pre wired set ups so far all I've been able to find are apes and T bars.
this is an option...
also, you don't need to do the whole job in the parking lot.
if it's cheaper to order everything (apes, wiring extensions, cables, connectors, etc) seperately then do that, sit in your living room with many cold beers and assemble the bars. pull your wires, run your cables, connect your connectors from the comfort of your couch, then take the assembled bars downstairs, and mount them on the bike.
go upstairs and drink another beer for being a smart man.
