This post is about comfort issues regarding forward control extensions on a Wide Glide:
I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseam. I put on 3" extensions to stretch out my legs. This feels good, but now I'm getting more wind on my lower legs. The added wind is actually creating more turbulence and blowing the zippers up my chaps. This can be dangerous at times. The zipper handles have actually blown off, even though they were snapped inside (the cuff? ) at the bottom. If I move my foot back to the original control position and just hold it there while riding, as though I had the stock setup, I can tell that there is less wind on my shins. When I'm just riding around town, it's not a big deal. When I'm on the highway for a few hours, I feel like my legs are getting a little tired sooner from fighting to keep my boot on the peg. I haven't been in the rain yet with this setup, but I anticipate rain will more easily get through my rain gear...
So I'm bothered by wind fatigue, noise, wind flapping my chaps around, and possibly rain finding more ways to get me wet. I don't think I've seen any wind deflector to mount in the lower area, and I can't imagine liking the look of it either. I may have to go back to the stock controls...
Any ideas?
Thanks,

I talked to people all over the country and they say when they ride bike the wind blows on them too. There is a lot of fabricated stuff on this site to cut the wind but with no real results. A Dyna is just a wind machine. Wait till you ride in the rain. They are rain producers also.
I just recently put the Kury 3" extensions on my Wide Glide, and I haven't really noticed my size 15's slipping or blowing extra, but I haven't really paid too much attention to it either because I know I'm gonna put on the mini-floorboards right after Christmas. I do have the peg extensions on their already too, so maybe that's something to try. I just know that it's such a relief to my 6'5" self that I'm not going back to standard fowards!
I am 6'7", I took a different route, I had the seat pan reshaped so I could then have the custom seat moved back four inches, I also had to move the tour trunk back so wife had room. I ride a 2009 Ultra CVO.
Been there! Did 2 things to fix this. Got extended pegs and made some heel rest.
So did this help with the added wind, or just with keeping your foot in place? The wind making my chaps flap around is the worst complaint that I have.
I have 3" extended forwards and the only problem I've had is my feet getting blown off the pegs. I added stirrups and it helped me to easier find a target to stab at with my feet, but I still had to fight the wind.
I switched to mini-floorboards and they helped a lot. My pants or chaps have never had the problems that you mentioned, but perhaps the 'boards will deflect some of that wind.

I may have to go back to the standard position...
I had the same issues and fixed the wind issues with the things i mentioned andi had to hem my chaps up. I did a shitty job on the chaps but it worked. Im 6'4" with a size 15 and no issues for the last 4 years! Ill have to post some pics on the heal rests i made as i do not like floor boards and normal heal rests were too small.
