I had an 04 sportster 1200 and jetted it, with the SE air cleaner and V&H pipes it was night and day, I thought it was the best bang for the buck but it was a different animal.
I put a D&D 2-1 fat cat exhaust on my dyna i have now but after I did some motor work so I can't say how much it would help a stock bike. I've read the 02 models have a really good crank in them, you can find info on that using the search function on here. Good luck !
I seem to be leaning toward the BUB 7 for my exhaust, anyone running those around here? I have to make sure I can use them with the extended forward controls I have waiting to be installed.
I have the BUB raw 1. The bub 2-1 pipes, I think, all use the same muffler can just have different headers. A bunch of guys here have them and I know i love mine.
So who can explain why a 2 into 1 or a longer exhaust increases performance? I really like the way my short shots look on my bike, I would like to do a stage 1 and a new air cleaner, but if my exhaust is going to nullify my upgrade then I will of course change it also.

Ok, I'm reading and hopefully learning a little. I think I'm going to leave my exhaust the way it is for now and do the big bore kit, cams, jet and air intake. Now I need to pick a brand. I see conflicting material everywhere I look. The dealer recommended the traditional SE 203 and the 1550 kit conversion blah blah blah. I have read many postings about losing low end power with this old upgrade. What do you guys think as far as a big bore bolt on package?
Fact is the more air fuel mix you put into and out of you motor the faster it will go like supercharger & open headers fastest
Ah, not quite the same as with a 9.2 to 1 Compression ratio. Sorry.
2 into 1 works on the principal that one exhaust 'pulse' creates a vacuum in the other pipe which aids in superior scavenging of that cylinder on its exhaust stroke which in turn allows more fuel in the cylinder for the next cycle. etc etc etc
And they do indeed work. BUT if you're not drag racing and 2 or 3 hp isn't that big of a deal, run the pipes you like. V&H are plentiful in the Harley world.
