I'm 6'4 and 240ish and I stayed with mid controls and an engine guard with hiway pegs. Gives me several options on longer rides for different positions. This is the same set up I have on all of my bikes

... I have seen several threads where guys indicated they like having forward controls and mid pegs (kind of the opposite of guys who put highway pegs on with the stock mid controls) ....

Good luck with the decision 'tiny' ... LoL

I didn't think of that, I am going to hit the shop and set mine up like that. I like being able to throw my legs back and get aggressive in the corners. Stress relief.................

6'4" 280 lbs here. Stock 2011 wide glide, did go for the progressive 412 Heavy Duty shocks so my ace doesnt drag...But I have ridden from Portland OR to Salt Lake City UT in one (long) day ~ 780 miles. Leg position is great for me. After that day however the insides of my legs were getting tired really just from holding my legs on the pegs with the wind trying to pull them off the sides. Which is why i dont get these "highway" pegs that move your feet further out, seems that would create more stress on the inner leg.

I love the Wide Glide being a big (chubby) and Tall really I think its the only dyna choice other than touring. And dont get me starter on the fatboy dont bother unless u afraid to corner. Wider forks, bigger tank, bigger rear tire, oh and Flames.. all caught my eye..

I am also of a taller build at 6'2" and 230 lbs. I found that the Wide Glide fit me better for the way I like to sit the bike. I added 17" apes awhile back and moved my forward controls another 2" forward. Fits me like a glove now. I can ride all day without fatigue.

Mine is a 2000 Wide Glide that I have put over 73,000 miles on. I would say ride any and all models that trip yer trigger, then pick the one that suits you best. Don't limit yourself to a few and maybe miss out on THE bike for you. Screw anyone that thinks you dwarf your ride. Just pick'em up, turn em upside down and shake the change outta their pockets!

6'7'' 260# I have 16" apes which are just right for my torso size. I have 3" forwards. If I want to change my leg position I just put them on the passenger pegs, I've always ridden sport bikes so it's not an unnatural angle for me. My buddy has a Fat Bob and I definitely prefer the riding position of my bike over his.

I had kind of the same dilemma as you, except I didn't have it narrowed down to just two. I am 6'5" 250, and I rode just about every bike in the shop, and ultimately got my Wide Glide. A lot for the comfort for my tall self, but mostly because it is just one bada$$ looking bike!!
Adding the 3" extenders made it even more roomy. I'm going to be posting pictures of these and my other mods as soon as I get them all on in the next couple weeks...

Default Fat Bob

I"M 6-4, 225 and I ride a 2011 Fat Bob. I use HD Mini Floorboards (they're called floorboards, but are actually more like larger pegs with enough room for half my foot), but they can be angled up slightly, which gives me a great ride on twisties and curves and still keeps the comfort of the forward controls. I put on a C&C LoPro Solo Seat, which pushes me back a few inches, so my legs are pretty stretched and comfortable. I just got back from a 4 day, 1,000 mile ride from DC to Pigeon Forge, TN and did a lot of highway as well as the Smokey Mountains, and this worked great for me in both.
