Man I'm jealous of you west coast guys with the beautiful weather and being able to ride so much. Here I am hoping for a dry day in the high 30s for a short ride. Have fun riding though.

Thank all of you for providing me the pros and cons on purchasing a Switchback over a Fat Boy Lo. I pulled the trigger today and ordered .... The Switchback in red! I will pick it up on Friday. A storm is coming in so I will not be able to ride my new addition to the garage. Again, thank you for all the input.

Default The blend I was waiting for

I think the FLD is the perfect bike for a person who likes the looks of the old Pan and Knuckle FLH and FLHS bikes, but wants a performance machine with cruising capabilities. Its all about The Ride.
I've had an Electa Glide and Road King, and a couple of Sturgis, (The first Dynas) and a beautiful '82 FLHS Shovelhead...the Electa Glide Sport that most people have never seen. It was the low seat, old style frame bike with no crash bars, no faring, no bags, and a low fat look that inspired the Fat Boy. Every where I rode it, including Daytona, it would get more attention than the high dollar customs.
I was thinking of buying a Dyna and adding the FL front end myself to get the old style look and find some old FL bags off of a '65 Pan. A friend of mine did that and it was awesome.
I was shopping for a new ride, and had narrowed it down to an Ultra Limited, and a Road King, or making the custom I described above, Then I saw the Switchback, and there was eveything I wanted as a beginning platform.
I ordered a black with ABS, (use it once and its worth it), and have added the SE Plain round air filter, and the SE chrome pipes with extra discs...it will let it breathe better. I had the SE cam put in it and when I hit 1000 miles with have it re-mapped with the module at every 250 RPM for max torque. Of course I put in the SE front fork fluid...that is the lowest cost handling improvement you can make, based on all of my old HDs.
I've added the interchangable sissy bar, (low), but thats only if my kids want to ride on the back. Other than that, I'm going solo with no bags or windshield.
I put the black covers over the docking points, and wish they had the same for the hard bag docking points to make them disappear.
I would like to find a solo rack that I can use with the docking system that is an old stlyle over the finder style like the Duo on Electra Glides had with the Buddy seats...they don't make one for the FLD yet.
I think HD had missed it when they thought that this would appeal to the smaller rider...I;m 6' and 215, and I want the extra performance, but the ability to cruise, or tour, as I choose. I used to keep 3 bikes at a time, a Touring, a Sport, and a Vintange...Now I can have one bike that will give me all 3 in 1 if I keep the look old school. (My brother builds his own engines for his 8 bikes and enters horsepower shootouts...he says the configuration I've gone with should be about 110 foot/lbs of torque once broken in and re-mapped). Glad I got ABS!
I agree on the name Duo-Glide suggested elsewhere...I would have been better.
Ride Safe,
Henly

Well, if i would have named it Bruce instead of Juicy Lucy, I would probably still take offense. I'll call it my "road biatch"
I can live with that...

I know you will be happy with the bike, I know I am. Really don't give a crap if they want to call it a RQ or RK wantabe or what ever else they want to call it... IT gets stares from all the other riders. I got a couple of friends that I ride with and they just wished they had the 103 MOTOR that I have, I fell in love with my FLD the first moment I saw it. Just finished the shop yesterday and the bike was the first addition to it. Already to start building shelves to put my gear on.

Yep Lucy for the red hair and when I crank her open and let her get all those parts meshin, flowin and screamin together, juicy comes to mind.

Kinda like what happens to a dog's back leg when you scratch him right. You gotta love it, especially when you're the dog. AhhhOooo, werewolves of london baby...

And when I really grab that biatch's hair and ride her like I'm never gonna see her again, that ho cries MO! MO! MO!!

Yeah, she's way too nassy and definitely too sassy to be called a queen, maybe a viking queen.

****, I'm goin ridin, this is makin me happy...lol

I think square tube. More friction to hold stuff in place and crank it down, less apt to move around too maybe.
