Are you wanting to paint the OE emblems or have something new air brushed on the tank? I wanted to have something new air brushed on the tank but keep getting told there was no way to have it done on denim paint. I guess having the emblems painted might work. I'm gonna have to check into that.
Here are my .02, if you're going to go red then the orange S.E. ring on the AC housing has to go and you are going to have to figure out how to get a little red somewhere else to tie it all together.
I like the idea of having a pinstriper paint the logo on the tank. maybe have him stripe the tins to tie it all together. Something classic and clean looking. Nothing real fancy or over the top. Or you could do the rims similar to MxerwithaBob. I think the key is to keep it simple and don't over do the red.
I agree with all you guys. I have to update my sig pic. I have changed the AC cover to a 13. Definitely agree with having to put a splotch of red elsewhere to tie it in. Don't want a bright red, a very faded red would be in order. A very simple Harley Davidson on the tank.
I am thinking that the tank badge, rear shock cover or to shock mount cover, timing inspection cover, lettering on the A/C and the front lower fork leg covers would look good in a nice flat dark red (noticable, but not BANG here I am red). I just don't know what you could change on the left side of the bike to tie it in without it being something to dramatic like the durby cover.
hey robbie im having mine painted in the next week or two... im having my tank painted a darker red then putting a sticker matching my stock tank badge on. then painting gloss black. pulling the sticker off and clear coating... i tied red into other parts of my bike as well... post up some pics for ya when im done.
