I ran the stock mini ape for 3 years and loved them but decided to try out the Fat Bob set up. I am now thinking about going back to mini apes. should I stick with the 1" bars or go to 1.25" bars? What do you guys think?
i feel the same as jimmy. my wide glide has stock 1.25 bars. i just ordered some 12" apes and i ordered them in 1.25 not 1" diameter. bar ends and risers mount points are 1" though.
Actually, I'd run them in 1.5"...fat front end, fat bars, looks great. I run 1.25" only because I didn't know about 1.5's, I rushed into them.
edit: sorry thought you had a fat bob, you have a street bob...I'd go with 1.25" on that bike.

I would go 1-1/4" on your bike. I have a Fat Bob and went 1-1/2" and love the look of the beefy bars. Goes well with the heavier duty front end of the Fat Bob.
I had 1 1/4" WO on my RKC and I thought they look great.Just today,I got my order from Lake Shore HD and in that order is 16" 1 1/4" HD apes/riser kit in black for my new '12 Street Bob.Also got several other goodies such as sliders, mirrors, levers (all in black),derby and timer covers (fin design).Bill at LSHD was awesome.Only took two weeks to get the goods.
Lost track,Anyway....I think the 1 1/4" apes look the best, regardless of the height. They just beef up the front on the Street Bob w/out overdoing it.Again JMO.
