I put a one inch long, height and width, scratch on my saddlebag. I just got quoted from harley for $300 to fix it. I rather just cover it with a moulding because if I do paint it and it happens again. I'll get pissed. (again) It was from my stupidity that it got scratched.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
sounds like more of a gouge but either way it's tough to say without a photo of it overall as some trim may look good while other trim may not ,so a lot depends on location of scratch.
if you can post a shot of the bag on the bike and pinpont the scratch if it doesnt show up it would be helpful
I would find a creative way to hide it. Like you said, if you spend 300 bucks to have it fixed it will happen again. If you don't fix it, it will never happen again. Maybe you can find a cool patch or emblem to cover it up.
Here's the pic guys. And thanks for all the suggestions. I'm probably going to try and cover it if I can't get someone to paint it cheaper. Probably something in chrome or a ghosted decal. Any ideas would be helpful.
The pic is taken on an angle. Sorry about that. It's on the side of the bag. Not the top. The top of the bag is on the right. Bottom on the left. It's the passenger side of the bike. (I'm referring to a car. I know.)
Put a sticker on it.
Or practice youre reparation skill you got all winter ?
I agree with this suggestion. Or at least you could do all the preparation work with sandpaper or whatever is needed and bring it to a shop just to have it painted properly if you don't have the tools or skills. Do some research, but to do the sandpaper time-consuming stuff I'd assume you could do it on your own to save a bit. And have it painted by a repair shop, not HD dealer..
Youre scratch is nothing. Take turtle wax and a polisher (I speak french I dont know the name for that... a damn grinder with a muff on it)
Probably 85 % of it will go away if not all !
