Well I finally made it home from Afghanistan. Got back into town yesterday and picked up my Wide Glide today! So here are the impressions of my first ride on a HD:
Goods:
-Sharp looking bike!
-Very comfortable to sit on, love the forward controls and low seat stance!
-Vibration of the motor was right on point, not too much, but enough to let you know its a harley.
Bads:
Stock pilon is worthless, why even bother putting that on there?
Stock pipes almost had me embarrassed to ride the bike!!
I had already purchased V&H BSS, but was planning on waiting till the weekend to put them on, but after the ride home with those stock pipes, I started installing the new pipes almost immediatley.
With the new pipes on, I am 100% happier with the bike, sounds like what I think a HD should sound like! I did not opt for the quiet baffles, and am glad that I didnt, I dont think the pipes are too loud, suits me just fine (of course I am half deaf anyway).
Next up will probably be a single-sided swingarm bag, and eventually moving onto a new ac & tuner. But for now I am very content!
Congrats on the new bike. Let the modding begin. Did you go with the black pipes or chrome? I went with chrome and now i am thinking the black would look great as well. Looking to maybe just find a set of black heat shields. Or even chrome damaged ones and just powder coat them black. I started with the quiet core baffles in my BSS, not soon after put the stock baffles back in. Not to loud unless you want them to be. Then again i may be going deaf after riding with them for over a year now. Who knows.
