The "official" HD '06 announcments are in just a few hours but the September Cycle World is out and has a piece on some of the new engineering on the Dyna models:
1. All Dynas will be FI only - no carb option.
2. All Dynas will have 6 speed transmissions w/helical-cut gears.
3. Automatic tensioner for primary drive.
4. Diaphragm clutch - reduces clutch pull by ~35%
5. Cams now ride in plain (as opposed to rolling) bearings.
6. Hydraulic cam chain tensioner.
7. Looks like all Dynas will have a larger 160 rear tire. (The new Heritate Softtail will have a 200 rear!)
8. 49mm front forks across the Dyna line.
There's a sweet looking 35th Anniversary Super Glide reissue that will be announced as well.
The 2006 models are on the Harley site. The 35th edition really looks nice.I really don't care for what they did to the WideGlide rear fender.I like my '05 better. The 6 speed tranny may be better.I like the bigger fork tubes, hopefully they will work on the 05's.Later,Donnie
Looks like Harley made some nice changes and the pricing is on par with the current models...good call HD. The new frame seems to make all the models a bit longer, the Super Glide Custom 2005 is 90.6 inches long while the 2006 is 92. inches long. Maybe a smoother ride? The bike weighs a good 20 to 30 lbs more as well per the "dry" weight comparisons. The 49mm forks sound nice, but didn't all the 2005 Dyna's already have them?
I wish my bike came with a 6 speed trans, I don't like the spacing between 2nd and 3rd and the spacing between 4th and 5th seems large too. The new Superglide is actually cheaper when you consider I had to pay $400 for fuel injection on my '05.
Did they change the rake also? I thought that the SG was at 28 degrees and now they are 29 degrees.

Does seem cheeper especially when you add $100 to get the self adjuster for the primary. However you only get a solo seat and no passenger pegs.
However I don't know if I would want to have a first year of production and be the one to help HD figure what problems they have with the new design.
I wouldn't mind the six speed as long as it drops the rpm's on the highway. If it is just closer gear ratio's with the final drive ratio the same I would not want the six speed.
I was and I still am very happy with my 2005 FXDI.
