I'm very interested in a 2001 FXDL with supposedly 11,xxx miles. It has the basic upgrades, SE slip-ons and a high flow HD air filter kit. Forward controls. A Thunderstar rim has also replaced the stock rim. The rear rim has been replaced with a slotted rim that I think came from a sportster. Stock tire sizes are maintained. 130x16 and 110 x 19 front. Cosmetically (oxidation, here and there) it's far from perfect but I'm allright with that. It's a 2nd owner but the 2nd owner doesn't know much about the history and he has ridden it for 4,xxx miles. I'd like to know what is up with the dash panel on the tank. It doesn't fit properly on the front and has at least 1/8 clearance (space) on the back. Everything else about the bike is pretty much stock. I'd like to confirm that it has the original speedometer. The title is clear and in the owners name but the mileage is not stated because of some kind of administrative error on the original purchase from the 1st owner. The 1st owner purchased it from a Harley Dealer and supposedly, once again, the owner said that I can go down to the local dealer to acquire all of the info, service records, etc... on the original purchase Some pics included. Input appreciated. By the way, the bide starts easy as usual and shifts and rides, good. If I pull the cam nose cone, would the stock cams be stamped??? Thanks.

What's the price?, as for the dash, i believe they came in black, so the one on the bike was replaced and may not have been installed correctly, i did notice alot of rust on some of the bolts, bike may have sat in the weather for some time.also when you remove the cam cover check the tensioners as these are a known issue with 99-03 twin cams
Confirmed, it has sat out in the weather for the last 6 months and the parts with rust are the basic nuts and bolts and can be replace easily. Forward controls and Turn signal assembly definately show rust. Brand new rear tire. This is not a beach bike. The paint is excellent all the way around. Price is $5k.
5k from where i live is a good price, i do live in Canada and bikes tend to cost us more.as for bolts needing replacement not a big deal.Alittle elbow grease and some wax it could look really nice. What's up with the control switches, 1 is black and the other is chrome. My only concern is how well it was taken care of.
Plus one on the black dash. Low Riders came with black dash's but that doesn't mean the Speedo isn't still original. Once a bikes over ten years old your guess is as good as any ones. If its a good runner and an otherwise solid bike, 5 grand is reasonable.
ROBTARRA39, Believe me, I noticed that right off and that was an oddball. He said the guy that did the work (replaced the mirrors, chrome control housings, chrome buttons, hand grips, etc..) said it looked good like that and it matched the bike. It was his taste in customizing.
Looks like the dash panel just needs to be bent in shape to fit the tank better. if its only got 11k then 5k sounds pretty resonable. I bought an 02' lowrider last may for 7k with 9k miles. I might have slightly over paid but it was literaly in pristine shape too. Good luck check back in
Also, the stock black dash set has a rubber trim that is used on both pieces. Id take a pic of mine for you, but I just sent off to Joe today for powder coat. I also moved my inicator lights from the headlight brow into the dash piece.
The dash looks correct to me. The panel and the gauge housing come with black rubber stripping glued to the edges. Someone pulled it off at some point. I have had to re-glue mine on every couple years as they start to come apart. Nobody makes an aftermarket version of those 2 chrome parts that I have ever seen, they are a Harley part and that's just the way it fits. The black rubber trim hides the shitty fitment. That is a Sportster wheel, but they also sell them as an aftermarket part. They are the exact same size. Looks like a fine bike to me, at a fine price. Get yourself some polishing compound for the bolts you don't like and download an older Dyna accessories catalog.
