I believe 160 is pushing it. I think someone sis it, but different manufacturers are wider than others. I have rubbed the fender bolts with my 150 when I had it lowered. I'm debating on doing a 160, but not to many companies make one. The better gripping tires like the Night Dragon, the K591 and the GT501 are 150 only. You can also change your fender bolts to a cap bolt and put the nut on the outside. The K591 is also a little wider than most 150's so depending on whose 160, it might not give you much. The 160's are also more money. A Night Dragon 150 is $125 vs. $180 plus for a 160.
up to 2000 they had 130mm tires, in 2001 they came out with the 150mm, so 160mm is probably max on the 2001 to 2005, prior to this year i am not sure.
The 2000 had the 150 width OEM. Mine still has the OEM tire it came with and it is a 150/80/16.
I am gonna get the inner strut brackets that have flush mounted well nuts built in, then use short bolts from the outside to run a 160 with no worries.
Question....Does anybody have the part #s for those inner brackets for the quick detatch sissy bar on the 00 FXDX?

On my '97 FDXWG - 130mm was OEM on the 16" x 3.5", but you can fit a 140mm. The OEM drive belt was 1 1/4", but if you went to a 1 1/8" belt - you could go up to a 150mm tire.

Not the same bikes. The FXDX came with a 150 stock from 2000 on. Different fender, swingarm and a bunch else from your wide glide. I was looking at mine as I came in the garage before. I didn't measure, but a 170 might clear the belt and swingarm, but the fender bolts may be the problem. I may do some measurements later. I don't think that there are any 170's available for the 16" rim though.
Or, you can go all out and cut the struts off and fab a fender. Then a 200mm tire will fit. I have a 2004. I'm doing the 200mm conversion (sig pic). Not done yet waiting for some powder to get done. I'm doing a how to video when the powder comes back.
With this conversion no trans work. No new swing arm, use same drive belt.
