So a few of the people here have the Reckless Fairing.
I'm thinking of scraping some money together to get one next month.
Looks like the empty fairing can be had for $375 shipped, unless anybody knows
a better place than ebay.
Was probably gonna run it as is, without stereo for a month or so, as money is tight.
I got a couple questions:
1) Mounting Options?
I seen where some used the quick detach harley windshield clamps, I can do this,
but wanna know if there is a non-quick detatch option?
- if not, I guess I can get one of the Lockable clamps.
2) Bracket? (info so I can get a shop to cut/drill up)
Since it's for a road king, I'll need a bracket to mount.
Anybody got Dimensions? or some Close up pics?
is it pretty easy? like just line it up and drill the holes?
3) POWER
what type of connection? quick detach plug?
I already got a power cable going to the front (from stereo fork bag)
so I can just change the plug.
here is mine using quick detach mounts. you will just need 1" spacers to mount on all the clamps, if you have 49mm mid glide forks. i just cut the vertical part of the stock bracket off. no need to take it to a shop, its not hard and you will need to test fit it to your forks anyways
Looks nice, my question is hows the ride feel before and after such as wind buffeting, ease or difficulty of turning in tight spots, road vibration in the front end in higher winds. I am really looking at getting one on my Fat Bob for a couple of reasons, sound is definitely tops cause I am a music lover and next is winds here in the Vegas valley get into the 60mph gusts so its nice to not feel like somebody just tried to shove you off your bike while on the freeway. I already have a Memphis shades demon I swapped out from my last bike and it helps to keep that hard biffeting you get right about the solar plexus on bad windy days but could be a bit better. Now worried about head buffeting as I ride full face or just deal with it when I wear a 3/4 or 1/2. So really interested to hear your insight on subtle differences in feel of the ride overall.
Also what parts were you still needing to go with the parts they sent? Did they send the clamps for the tubes or just the brackets to mount to the clamps? Really planning on doing this to my Fat Bob when I get the funds.
they only give you the flat brackets, you will need to get you own clamps. i also installed a 6" windvest shield and i get no buffeting at all. as far as handling, it adds a bit a weight about 30lbs to the front end. i installed a damper and it helped with a little bit of wobble on the freeway but also made the front more stable in the corners
