Default T Bar Cable Lenghts for FXD

Hey all, I have been browsing the forums for a while and have seen a ton of threads about the t-bars. I am probably going to go with the wctb 10" or 12" (no one around here has any t-bars for me to try, but I'm 6'3" with long arms so I figure I will be ok with either one). Leanin more towards the 10" right now.

My question is, which cables exactly and what cable lengths will I need for a 2009 superglide fxd. Most of the handlebar swap outs I have found on here have been on SBs or something that already came with a higher bar to start with. So I'm looking for anyone who has done the switch from the basic stock buckhorns on the fxd. I'm not plannin on risers or anything, just straight stickin the handlebars right on. Probably gonna go with an accutronix mount for the speedo too to get it off the top of the bars.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. The only place I've even been able to talk about it with has been a dealership and they weren't much help past telling me how many thousands of dollars it would cost for me to do it. haha.

Thanks!

I would call Burly an tell them what bike you have, what height bars you are going to run, and that you are interested in one of there cable kits. The will tell you how many inches over, then just use that info accordingly. I did this when I couldn't get any advice also. By the way I was in another thread and saw your ? bout height of bars. Go at least 12". I am about 6'3" also and I went from 12" to 14" because the 12's made me feel hunched over.

Right on man thanks for the input. Based on talking to a few of my friends and what you said, I think I'm gonna go with at least the 12"s. And I'll probably give Burly a call tomorrow to figure out the cables since I really can't seem to find any specific info anywhere. Now just to figure out which company to go with for the bars.

What kind of t bars do you have?

All that being said, I'm 6'3" and went with 9" overall rise (had to wait for custom order to be made) and it's perfect. Go sit on your bike and mock some bars up with PVC to find out where you want to be

measure how high your controls are off the top tree now. Most stock SG's I've seen are able to get away with just rerouting the clutch, throttle and brake line. There's normally enough extra wiring for the guages to pull up out of the frame without splicing. You are probably gonna wire your controls internally so you can get wiring extensions for those from the dealer. and go with the 12's, you'll be alot happier. solid riser bushings too, don't bother with urethane ones at that height.

Good call on the solid bushings.

I was thinking of just buying stock street bob cable lengths since it seems that most people on here who switched to t bars on their sbob didn't have to change cables at all. That is, if I can't stretch the stock ones to work like you suggested shitface.

Also trying to decide on the bars. At first I was all ready to go with the west coast, but really like the death squad mc t bars too. Can't really find any reviews of them anywhere. Anybody on here use them?
